In the South of France, the ring shaped brioche, covered with candied fruits, is shared for the Epiphany, the sixth day of the New Year, to celebrate the visit of the Biblical Magi to newborn Jesus.
Inside the brioche is hidden
a little porcelain figure, the “fève”.
So be careful : don't break a tooth
and don't swallow it!
The person who gets it in his or her slice becomes the queen/king of the day gets a crown and, has to choose her/his king/queen among the guests.
If you are serving the couronne today, keep it at room temperature in its box.
Transferred in an airtight container, it will stay delicious for up to two to three days!
